The Mobile Home Lifestyle: Spotlight on Antequera

In the southern locality of Spain, you will find the sun soaked town of Antequera, a municipality in the province of Málaga, part of the Spanish community of Andalucia.
Hugely rich in culture, history and heritage, Antequera was established back in the Bronze Age, there are some amazing monuments to be found everywhere: tombs which date back to 2,500 BC, the national park of El Torcal with its unique limestone formations, Roman baths, Baroque churches and Renaissance palaces and a 13th Century Moorish castle, all remain to pay tribute to the strategic and historic importance of Antequera in days gone by.

In the vast fertile plains of the valley to the north, an almost vertical, 800 metre high limestone rock overlooks the town and valley. "The Lovers Rock" as it is called, where local legend has it that two young lovers, a Christian man and a Moorish woman jumped to their death rather than deny their forbidden love.
Antequera is commonly known as the 'crossroads of Andalucia' because of it's excellent location in the heart of the region. The area is served with excellent forms of communication by road, air and most recently high speed train it allows fast and easy connections locally, nationally and internationally.
Located in the province of Malaga and on the motorway junction of the A92 and A45 the main cities of Andalucia, Sevilla, Granada, Cordoba and Malaga are not far away. The airports of Malaga and Granada are within 50 minutes of the town and with the addition of a new high speed train link in Santa Ana the capital of Madrid is now within easy reach.

Antequera has a wealth of experiences waiting to happen, hosting a variety of things to do, including many different restaurants, tapas bars and shopping venues. in recent developments, a large new shopping centre was constructed at the edge of town. The town has historically been a strategically sought after place that many have tried to conquer and today follows a similar pattern in that it is a place many want to relocate to. It is a very pleasant town, where the locals are all very welcoming and although having a population of around 50,000 still has a village feel to it. It is a common sight to see the local residents stopped in conversation with friends, or promenading during warm evenings with family.
Being set in such a beautiful location in wonderful surroundings, apart from the actual town there are many things to do in the area and we recommend exploring the many places of interest around the area.

Antequera was in past years offered a large agricultural presence in Spain, providing products such as olives, grain, and wool, as well as furniture manufacturing. Today, tourism is the main industry and the town has seen a steady climb of international visitors. The museums in town host around 80% of all the art treasures in the province of Málaga which makes Antequera one of the cultural centres of Andalucia.
Over the past 5 years, the town has grown rapidly into a recognised centre for business, tourism and an ideal place in Spain to live. With the expansion of its industrial estate, the opening of the new A45 motorway to Corboda, housing developments, hotels, golf courses and even the talk of its own airport, Antequera offers a vibrant and prosperous future to anyone looking to start their new lifestyle in Spain.
