Common Terms

Mobile Home

Any park home, lodge or caravan holiday home that has wheels is legally classified as a 'mobile home'. Often 'single units' are referred to as mobile homes.

Lodge

A vague term usually applied to larger mobile homes with a timber lodge appearance.

Park Home

A mobile home usually with a more traditional 'bungalow style' appearance.

Single Unit

The term the trade uses for any home that can be transported in one complete piece. These range from the smallest caravan up to around 14' x 40'.

Twin Unit

The term the trade uses for any home that has to be transported in two halves and assembled on-site. These range from homes sized 16' x 32' up to 22' x 55' or larger.
